 photo Rookie Chef Kitchen Island2.jpg

I received the Rookie Chef Children’s Kitchen Island from Rookie Chef to review with our family. I have to say that it is just to adorable! Our regular readers know that I have two son’s who are special needs and 5 grandchildren as well. So since it’s the holiday season, and I’m going to need a lot of help in the kitchen this Kitchen Island is perfect for all the kids to use. It’s actually the perfect height for my grandchildren and for my son’s as well even if the boys need to sit they can do it and use the Kitchen Island to help me cut up fruits, veggies, cutting out cookies or any other fun that we are creating in the kitchen.

I was so excited to put the Rookie Chef Kitchen Island together and get the kids started in the kitchen! We usually use the kitchen table when they help me but we have had some close calls with falls with the grandchildren. So it at times makes me nervous to have them sitting on the chair and reaching. So I couldn’t wait to see how they did with the kitchen Island. I didn’t find the Rookie Chef Kitchen Island difficult to put together. I used this great
Video to help me put it together. It’s so beautiful when you get it together and very sturdy as well. Which is very important when you have children that will be using it. The kids were so excited to see the Island together and their facial excitement was just priceless! I was also highly impressed with the Slicer-Dicer, The Mixer-Upper and The Handy Slicer. They are perfect for their little hands as well as for pre-teens and teens. I even love using them myself!

 photo Rookie Chef kitchen Island1.jpg

When I brought it into the kitchen I already had a plan to make cookies with the kids. I figured that I had better have a game plan ahead of time or I was going to be in trouble. So I had already made up some sugar cookie batter and it was in the fridge waiting for us to be ready to make cookies. So I put the Island in it’s place and then brought out the cookie dough. The kids were so excited. We rolled out the cookie dough on the Island and it was just the perfect height for all of the kids. They could reach the top with no problems. We got all the cookies cut and put in the oven to bake. I then cleaned off the top of the Kitchen Island and set up the frosting and all the decorations for them. They then decorated their cookies after they cooled. There was so much fun and laughter in the kitchen. It was so wonderful that all the kids could reach what they wanted and I didn’t have to worry about them falling and getting hurt.

After the cookies were decorated the kids and I cleaned up. I have to tell you it was a breeze to clean up the Kitchen Island as well. Which as a parent is very important to me. When you have children they want to go from one activity to the next and not wait for clean up time. So making this Kitchen Island easy to clean makes cooking even more fun! You won’t dread bringing the kids into the kitchen they can have all kinds of fun baking and the easy clean up will thrill you parents as well.

Now for Black Friday, Rookie Chef is having a great sale on the Rookie Chef Children’s Kitchen Island starter kit will be on sale and you can save $100 on this great kit and receive the same items that I did! It will make the perfect gift this holiday season!

Sherlock Homes And Moriarty’s Web Game Review #ChristmasGiftGuide

Sherlock Homes game 2

I received the Sherlock Homes And Moriarty’s Web Game to review. Now, I have to say that I was excited to see how the game worked and how to solve the mysteries in the game. I did love the game pieces when I saw them as they looked easy enough for children and adults to play the game. I was lucky enough to meet the creator of the game Lucy Keifer at the Chicago Toy & Game Fair this month. Her passion for Sherlock homes and the game she created just pours out when she was talking to everyone about Sherlock Homes And Moriarty’s Web Game.

If your into mystery, crime, Sherlock Homes, and a lot of fun then your going to just love the Sherlock Homes And Moriarty’s Web Game. You can play the game with up to 6 players and the players can range from ages 10 and up. You can choose from great characters to be like Holmes, Watson, Mycroft, Irene Adler, Inspector Lestrade and Mrs. Hudson. The game can take from 20 to 45 minutes to play. However, once your start to play you won’t want to stop!

sherlock homes game1

While playing Sherlock Homes And Moriarty’s Web Game you will want to be careful Moriarty is ruthless and brilliant, and unless you’re very, very careful you will find yourself caught in his web. You will need to solve the crimes to catch Moriarty and win the game but it’s not always just that easy, there are always twists and turns that will come up during the game. Our family played at Thanksgiving and we had a great time trying to solve the crimes and try to capture Moriarty before he can tangle you into his web. It really is a fast paced game but it will keep you thinking and trying to solve the case.

We played with 6 people over Thanksgiving and we were all having a great time playing. When one game ended new players would join the game because they wanted a chance to solve the crimes as well. We were having so much fun playing and changing the players so that everyone could have fun. My son’s were loving playing as well as the adults. I have to say that we thought it was one of the best games that we have played in a while. Everyone loved that the game is always changing so you do not get bored playing. They had such a fun time playing that we played again the next day. It’s always a fun adventure each game that we play together.

The Sherlock Homes And Moriarty’s Web Game would make a great gift for any sleuths on your Holiday shopping list or any board game lover. You can purchase the game on the Sherlock Homes And Moriarty’s Web Game website or on Amazon. It’s sure to be a big hit with them!

STASH Folding Kids Chair Review #ChristmasGiftGuide

Stash folding chair

I received the STASH folding Chair to review. I have to say that I was excited to receive it because I wanted to see if it could really do the folding well. You know how some products make claims but then you purchase them and they do not work as well as stated. So I was wondering was this chair really 21 lbs, did it fold well? Was it the perfect chair for my little prince and princesses when they visited?

Stash-Folding-Kids-Chair-specs-extended

When it arrived I unboxed it and it was just as adorable as shown, it is made very well also. I was really impressed with the quality of the chair, the construction, it was just so adorable! Then I tested how well it folded. I was not difficult to do, it went down without having to push really hard on it so a child could fold it with no problems and I have a shelf system that it actually fits on when it’s not use if I need the floor room as well or I can put it in the closet as well if we need more room. It is really just so adorable and it gives the kids not only a great seat for them to sit in, it folds to be stored away if l need to AND l ast but not least it has a storage area under the seat as well.

Stash-Folding-Kids-Chair-fun-playful-childrens-chair_preview

I have set up the STASH chair as a reading area for my grandkids. I have it in a corner of the room, it has been filled with books for them to enjoy reading. I also have the books that read it to them in the chair as well for the little ones that can’t read yet. The kids all know that they books are in there and that it’s their special reading spot. So when they come over they will take turns sitting in the chair and reading books to each other or letting the little ones have the books read it to them. It has turned into the grandkids favorite place in our house. Which I have to say that I just love! It’s getting them reading more and they have a great place to sit and do it and it makes clean up very easy all the books just go back under the seat when they are done reading.

We also have special nights when the kids stay over we like to do a movie night with popcorn, hot chocolate, and a few other goodies. One of the kids will sit in the STASH chair and then the others will have cuddle time with me, Great Grandma or one of their uncles. Then they trade places so that everyone gets some cuddle time and then they don’t fight over where they are sitting. So everyone gets a turn with where they want to sit or who they want to cuddle with. It has really worked out well having the STASH chair for the grand kids while they are visiting! They all love it and want a STASH folding chair at their house! It has made a great reading adventure chair and helped to get the kids reading more.

Vivitar DRC-330 Air Defender Drone Review #ChristmasGiftGuide

Vivitar Drone

We received the Vivitar DRC-330 Air Defender Drone to review. I told my son’s that I had a surprise for them to help me with. So of course as always they wanted to know what they would be helping with and what was in the box I was holding. I told them we would open it after lunch. So we sat down to lunch and they ate really quickly and said “Okay, we are ready to help mom!” I had to laugh because it was about 5 minutes and they were done with lunch. Can you tell they get excited to help me??? lol

So we took the box outside and I opened it. The boys were so excited about seeing how the drone worked. I took out the batteries that I had already charged and the Vivitar DRC-330 Air Defender Drone. I got the Drone ready and they were so excited that they were going to get to try it. I gave the remote to one of my son’s. We have a field that is just a block or two away from our house so we went there to fly the drone because it was their first time and I didn’t want it to land on top of the house. So I told them how it works and what they needed to do. It was simple enough for them both to use with no problems.

My son had the Drone flying and I had put in the Micro SD card as well so that I could have him take some photos. They were having so much fun! They had the whole field to fly the drone over so they were just having a blast. They were amazed at how high the drone would go and how easy it was to land it. They were taking photos as well, those did not come out so well. Not by any fault of the drone’s camera, the boys were still trying to figure out how to fly it and use it so they came out blurry because it was moving all over the place when they were trying to take pictures. So I wasn’t expecting great first photos by any means. The boys were just having so much fun with the Drone, I was loving watching them play with it.

I did take the Drone out by myself, because you know that I had to try it for the review. Yes, that’s my story and I’m sticking to it. LOL! So I went to the field and I was flying the drone. I had no problems flying it or landing it. I was able to take photos from the drone camera as well and they came out great. I had both batteries with me so I was having a lot of fun with it! I was able to land it on the field with no problems, since it was my first time I figured I would crash it but no, it landed easily. I have used it several times and each time I get better and better with flying it and the pictures are coming out great! I’m thinking of trying to take some fun fall photos of the family with the drone and seeing how they come out. I have some personalized gifts that I would love to use the pictures for!

The Vivitar DRC-330 Air Defender Drone would make a great Christmas gift! Not only for Children but also for adults! You can find the Drone at Walmart, Target, Staples, and several other stores. It’s a great gift for that hard to buy for person because there are so many ways to use it!

Shark Duo Vaccum Cleaner Review #ChristmasGiftGuide

shark-duo-vaccum

I had a chance to review the Shark Duo Vaccum Cleaner? . I was so excited when it arrived. I took it out of the box and put it together so that it would be ready for using. I then waited till the kids made a mess and I was excited, which really confused my children. lol They are use to me saying to them “Did you really just do that?” “Why, would you put that there knowing it would do that?” or something along those lines. However, they didn’t hear that this time. So they were looking at me and waiting for it. Instead I just went and got out the Shark Duo vaccum and picked up the large pieces, then I turned it on. I sucked it up and still didn’t say my usual to them so they were sitting there wondering when it was going to happen.
I learned two things that day. One, more then ever accidents happen and I should just do what I did that day more often. Two, I learned that I am in love with the Shark Duo. It really cleaned up the mess quickly and not just one mess. My grandchildren were over and after I cleaned up their messes as well. Everything from Crayon papers from the crayons that they threw on the floor to their snack messes that were also on the floor. They are so stinkin cute but they are my little mess makers along with their Uncles. It kept up with all the kids and more. The suction was great for the vaccum and it did clean up all the messes with ease.
The vaccum is so easy to put together as well. It only took me a few minutes to have it ready to go. I was so highly impressed with the action of the vaccum and how well it worked. I even used it on the couches under the cushions. It really did a great job sucking out all the things the kids had in the couch that I wasn’t aware had fallen in there. So I was just on a roll from our carpeted areas to our non-carpeted areas. The Shark Duo can keep up with all our families messes and keep on going! I also love that you do not have to touch the mess! You just take the canister off and dump it right out so there is no need for bags as well. I’m a big fan of no bags for the vaccum, not that they are expensive or anything but in reality when they get full and you remove them some of the dust and things get into the air or it comes out in a big puff of dust that goes all over and then you have to vaccum again!
The Shark Duo would make a great Christmas Gift or to have in your home and help keep it clean for the holidays. That’s right you can easily clean up any holiday messes with the Shark Duo or clean before the family comes over for the holidays. Your going to be ready for cleaning any and every time with the Shark Duo! I’m so happy with my Shark Duo and you will be as well.

5 Ingredient Banana Bread Recipe #Recipes #BananaBread #Bread

I had a request for a 5 or less ingredient recipe for Banana Bread. All of my recipes have more then 5 ingredients but I have made a recipe just like this one and it does come out really good and it’s really easy to make.

Banana Bread Fast!

Ingredients:

•4 tablespoons (1/2 stick) butter, melted
•1 (18.25 oz) cake mix (*I used a pineapple mix)
•1 cup ripe bananas, mashed
•2 eggs
•3/4 cup nut or chocolate chips (I used white chocolate)

Directions:
Combine all ingredients and mix for 2 minutes. Pour into greased 9 x 13 bread pan. Bake for 40 – 50 minutes, of until toothpick comes out clean.

Note: I had enough batter to also make 6 muffins AND, I used a pineapple cake mix, white chocolate chunks and a little coconut. I guess you could call it a tropical version of banana bread. Yum!

Thanks to Bake Me More

Rem-Fit Sleep 400 2-inch Memory Foam Mattress Topper Review #ChristmasGiftGuide

We received the Rem-Fit Sleep 400 2-inch Memory Foam Mattress Topper to review. When it arrived it came in a box and I opened it and when I pulled it out, it was nice and soft. It is for my son’s bed so I had him come feel it to see what he thought. He was pretty excited to see how it felt to lay on it once it was on his bed.

So I stripped his bed and put the Rem-Fit Sleep 400 2-inch Memory Foam Mattress Topper on his bed over his mattress. As I was putting it on I couldn’t help but think that I was going to be trying it out before him. lol So I laid down on the topper without the sheet. OMG! It was pure heaven! I put the sheet on his bed once I got up which was about 20 minutes later because I didn’t want to get off his bed! So I called him into the bedroom and asked him to try it. He said “Mom! I am never leaving my bed again!” He was serious and I already knew why because I didn’t want to leave it!

Mattress_Topper_ImageA_L

My son has Ehlers-Danlos syndrome he has a lot of joint and body pains. So when I was looking at the Mattress Toppers I knew I needed it to be soft for his joints and body. However, when it said soft I never thought it would be that soft. It was just like a cloud that your body to just float on and a whole new world of comfort. My son slept on it last night, when he woke up he was not complaining of any pain at all. Normally he wakes up and has pain in his shoulders and back. There was no pain at all, he said he hadn’t slept that well in a long while. He actually slept in as well, he is normally up at about 7am to 8am but he actually slept till 10am this morning. He looks so much more rested today. He was more active as well, if you have EDS or a chronic illness my son and I would highly recommend using the Rem-Fit Sleep 400 2-inch Memory Foam Mattress Topper to help you sleep at night.

The Rem-Fit Sleep 400 2-inch Memory Foam Mattress Topper was very impressive the way it was stitched, fit the mattress, and it doesn’t slide around. I have to say it is the most comfortable Mattress Topper that I ever felt or laid on. The Rem-Fit Sleep 400 2-inch Memory Foam Mattress Topper will last for a long time and when and if it stops being the comfortable cloud that my son loves so much we will be purchasing a new one as it’s already shown to help him sleep much better over the last couple of nights. I am sure that it will continue for a long time to come. If your looking for quality you will definitely find it in the Rem-Fit Sleep 400 2-inch Memory Foam Mattress Topper.

DIY Stained Glass Looking Ornament #KidsDIY #DIY #Christmas

stained-glass-ornament-with-all-colors

I have always loved the look of a stained glass window and I like to find different ways to make a stained glass look to my craft projects. This is no exception, I tried to find a easy way for children to make stained glass looking ornaments for the Christmas tree. We make a lot of our ornaments for our tree together as a family.

stained-glass-ornament-first-color-added-final

This is a perfect ornament for the family to make together and you can make the designs any way that you would like. Your not limited to the designs that can be made with this ornament. I made this one a little simple so that it would be easier for the real little ones to take part in. They come out so adorable and so pretty when the Christmas lights twinkle on them. It just creates a beautiful stained glass look when the lights are on.

Materials:

* Ceramic Tile (Lowe’s Item #
* Alcohol Ink (I used Red, Blue, and Green) you can use whatever colors you like
* Alcohol Ink Applicator pads
* Twist tie from garbage bag
* Chalk board vinyl (Get in School Supplies aisle) or black Vinyl at craft store for wall decals
* Modge Podge
* Plastic gloves (Dollar Tree)
* felt (I get the felt 4/$1) at Craft store
* Metal D Ring hangers for hanging pictures
* Hot Glue gun and glue sticks
* Ribbon

Step 1: Cut very thin strips of Black Vinyl you will need 3-5 strips per ornament

Step 2: Measure how much vinyl your design will need as you design it. You will push down with your thumb where you want to cut the vinyl against your ornament. Then cut so that you have enough vinyl to make your design.

Step 3: remove the backing off the vinyl and place them where they will go on your ornament. If your making the same design as I did it will be an X with a strip through the middle.

Step 4: You now have your outline of where your going to go with the Alcohol ink. Alcohol ink dries quickly! So you will want to have your twist tie pushed in half and then bend the bottom of the twist tie so that it’s a little flat to help you use it with the application pad to get it in the areas that you would like them.

Step 5: Put your gloves on and you are going to want to dab the alcohol ink in the areas you want them. You do not want to keep the ink placed on the ornament or it will run into the other areas. So you want to be sure to dab and continue to the areas colored.

Step 6: Continue to ink the areas as well as the sides of the ornament. Once they are done you will let it dry for 10-20 minutes.

Step 7: Now you can open your modge podge and use a foam brush to dab on your modge podge. You do not want to brush it over or it will take the ink off again. The modge podge will seal the ink and keep it on your ornament. Now you will allow it to dry for about 20 minutes moving the ornament every 5 minutes to make sure it doesn’t stick to your work surface.

Step 8: You will trace the ornament design onto the felt that you will use for the back of your ornament to cover it. You will need to do a little trimming to get it down to where you would like it to be and not show around the edges of the ornament when your looking at it.

Step 9: You will now hot glue the D ring hanger to the back of the ornament. Let it sit for a few minutes to ensure it has enough glue.

Step 10: Now you will hot glue your felt in place on the back of the ornament. Again let it sit and cool.

Step 11: You will now take some Ribbon and cut it as long as you would like the ornament to hang on the tree. Now you will tie a bow so you can hang your ornament.
