I received the Building With Second Hand Stuff Book to review for our readers. I know that many of our readers like to use reclaimed materials to make new projects for their home. So I thought it would be a perfect book for us to review even though we normally do not reveiw books.
The book is filled with projects that you can do to reclaim, repurpose, re-use and upcycle salvaged and left over materials. Now, I have to say that I am completely in love with the greenhouse that you can make in the book. There are many so many projects like a cabinets, a beautiful bed, pallet planters, these are just a few of the projects that they offer. There are a lot of amazing projects that you can make from the book.
I have to say that I liked the way they tell you which woods are hardwoods and which are softwoods so there is no guessing on your part. You will know what they are and they also let you know which projects you can use them for. So even if you have not worked on reclaimed, repurposed, re-use, and upcycled projects, it really gives you a lot of information so that you can make the projects and not have to continue to look up what you need to know it’s all in this book. It makes it very easy to know how to make the projects, what to use and what you will need for the project as well.
I have to say that this summer I will be making several of the projects in this book as I have just fallen in love with them. I have been wanting to redo our patio and have new outdoor furniture that I can use to make the space a enjoyable for our family. However, looking in the stores, I have found ones that I would love but they were either to much money or I didn’t like the color and that was the only color it came in. Well I found an adorable outdoor set that I plan to make in the book. It’s a pallet set that is made with bench seating and tables as well. The furniture is just so cute and will look great on our patio, I am going to change the color of the furniture as well as make a thicker pad for the seats but I am in love with them.
The book is beautifully laid out and gives you just a wealth of information making it easy for anyone to complete the projects. It also tells you about wood flooring, how to make your barn doors, pocket doors as well as many others, Coffee tables, kitchen cabinets, shelves, and several other projects that your sure to love. I am not sure if I shared this with you all before but in case I haven’t… I am obsessed with the tiny house nation and want my own tiny house. So all of the projects would work for a tiny house or a regular home as well. I love that they are able to be used for either. As I want to build my own tiny house at some point and I can see many of the items being used in the tiny house.
I can see Building With Secondhand Stuff being perfect for the man or woman in your life that likes to or wants to learn to repurpose, reclaim, re-use or upcycle salvaged materials. It would be great for someone who is just starting out or advanced builders will love it and the projects as well.
