New Twist on Baked Apples Recipe #Apples #Recipe

I have to say that we love baked apples here in so many different recipes, Apple Pies, Apple Dumplings, Apple Fritters and the list goes on. However, when we want something on a cold night to warm us up, and still have a great treat. I make these apples as a treat for the kids. It’s a big hit with them!

10 baking Apples peeled, cored and cut into slices
1/3 cup Red Hot Candies (get on sale or at the Dollar Bill store)
3 Tablespoons water
Large Pan for cooking

After Washing, peeling Coring and cutting the apples up put them in the pan with the rest of the ingredients on a low heat on the stove top. Keep stirring till the red hot candies melt and the apples are soft. Place in bowls and eat. You can top with ice cream if you would like for an extra special treat. These are so good! I make these several times a year for the kids, then we sit and watch a movie together while we eat them. The apples will turn red from the red hot candies and have a heavenly scent to the house as well so your doing double duty. lol Hope your family enjoys them as much as ours does. 🙂

My 5 minute Chocoholic Fudge Recipe #Candy #Fudge #ChocolateRecipe #Chocoholic

This is not a picture of the fudge I make I can’t locate them on my computer. 🙁

WARNING: Addictive, not my fault if you need your fudge all the time. lol Yes, I am a Chocoholic and I LOVE my chocolate! Not just any chocolate though most of the time I need my “make me feel better Fudge”! I do the occasional chocolate bars and other chocolates but I’m addicted to fudge. Shhhhh…..don’t give away my secret! lol Not that anyone who knows me doesn’t already know. 😉

Now I love all different flavors of fudge as well. So I like to mix it up on those days that I really want it so I don’t get bored. I’m not sure that could really happen but just in case. lol Now, I do it the frugal way so that it doesn’t get expensive to make. I pick everything up to make it when it’s on sale and have it on hand for those times that I want it.

You can make this even if you can’t cook!

Easy and Frugal 5 minute fudge

* 1 can evaporated milk
* Milk chocolate chips 12 oz
* Semisweet chocolate 6 oz
* 1 Ts of Vanilla

Take the chips and milk and put into a microwave bowl. Heat in the microwave for about 3 minutes and add a minute at a time till chips are almost melted stir in between as they sometimes still look like they aren’t melted but they are. Add in Vanilla and stir again. Put in a 9 X 13 pan that is greased with butter so they won’t stick. put into fridge to let set and cut in slices and enjoy! I know its a hard recipe isn’t it. lol

You can add nuts or other items at this time after the melting and adding of the vanilla.

Rocky Road Fudge-
after mixing and adding the vanilla you can add nuts and marshmellow to it then cool. HEAVEN!

Peanut Butter Fudge

* 2 cups creamy peanut butter
* 2 cups chocolate chips (1 12 oz bag)
* 1 14 oz can sweetened condensed milk

Put the chips and peanut butter into a bowl do NOT mix. Just place in microwave. Cook for about 2 minutes then stir, add in the milk and microwave for another minute. If not completely combined when you stir then add another minute on till it does. If it’s still lumpy add more time in on the microwave till its able to be stirred. Then place in fridge to set.

Place in 8 X 8 pan for this recipe.

Caramel Apple Popcorn Witch

We had a great time making these Caramel Apple Witch Popcorn Balls. They were easy to make but OMG! They were so good to eat! The kids already ate their Caramel Apple Popcorn Witch that they each made and are requesting more. They just loved the flavor and even more so since I used three of their favorite things to make them. I have to say that I am glad that the clean up is really easy as well. I will give you my tips for clean up as well to make it easy after the fun to get in and out of the kitchen.

Snapshot_20130928_1
I used all of my favorite Good Cook Cooking products to make these yummy treats, and I have such an easy clean up when I am done making them.

Ingredients:

8 Caramel Apple Suckers ( I use the ones from Tootsie Roll)
26 Kraft Caramels
8 Cups of Microwave Popcorn or Air Popped Popcorn (I use Microwaved popcorn)
3 Tablespoons of water
Food Coloring
Vanilla Frosting
Sugar Ice Cream Cone
Candy Corn
Christmas mini M&M’s or another candy you would like to use or you can use frosting and just color it for the eyes and mouth

You will start with making the Popcorn Ball, for making the Popcorn balls you will want to crush the Caramel Apple Sucker with a butter knife or whatever you have on hand. You just want to break it into pieces to make it easier to melt. You will also want the 26 Caramels and 3 tablespoons of water to melt all in your double boiler and 2-4 drops of Green food coloring to get the color you would like for the Witches Faces. While it is melting put your popcorn in the microwave or air pop it, you will need 8 cups of popcorn to make 4 Popcorn balls.

You will put the popcorn in a mixing bowl that will hold all the popcorn, Take out any that did not pop, then you will pour your Caramel Apple Mixture over the top of your popcorn and mix it well so that all the popcorn is covered. You will then use your hands or you can use the Good Cook Popcorn Ball Maker to make your round popcorn balls. Let them set for a few minutes so that they are perfect.

Take your Ice Cream Cone and put a little frosting around the edge that you will be sticking onto the popcorn ball. Then cover the cone in the same colored frosting. We used a violet color by mixing 4 drops of Red and 4 drops of Blue food coloring in a small bowl of frosting. Then stir it up and cover your Cone. They do have the Black Food coloring as well that you could purchase to use or mix colors to get your black as well.

Caramel Apple popcorn witch hat

You can use candy or colored frosting to make your Witches face, my son’s used Mini Christmas Colored M&M’s and Candy Corn, you can really use any candy that you would like, Just put a little bit of frosting to back of the candy and place it where you would like it. Your children will have a lot of fun making their witch the way that they want it to look. Then your witch is complete.

Clean Up Tips: When your waiting for your popcorn balls to set up put fill your double boiler with Hot Water and place it to the side stir it once or twice while your decorating your Witches. Once all of your popcorn balls are made fill your mixing bowl with hot water and place your stirring Spatula in there as well. Let them sit with hot water for 30 minutes and then after stirring a couple of times rinse the bowls and my pans out and wash them.

Grilled Potato Pouches Recipe #Grilling #FoodPorn #Grillpouches

I love making these Grilled Potato Pouches for our family. They are one of the best things on the grill next to the meats of course. I have mine on the grill right now and they are cooking away, so I have to say that I am drooling waiting for them to be done cooking. I thought I would share this recipe with you as it does make quite a bit of food for the family and it’s a very healthy option when cooking on the grill.

Here is what you will need for a Family of 5

5 Baking Potatoes
1 Bag of Frozen Veggies (Your Favorite Mix) or your favorite fresh veggies about 2 1/2 to 3 cups
2 Tablespoons of Butter per pouch
Garlic powder
Poultry Seasoning or Lawery Seasoning
Italian Seasoning
Aluminum Foil

How to make your pouches:

* Wash and cut your potatoes (Skin on) into cubes
* Place in a half sheet of foil Save the other half of the foil for the top of the pouch
* add some of the cubed potatoes and veggies to the pouch (You will make 2-3 pouches so save some for the others)
* add your seasonings then top with butter

Take your top half of the foil and cover the potatoes and veggies. Then roll the edges and smash them a little so that none of the butter will escape. Put them on the grill for an hour. You will cook them on one side for about 30 minutes and then flip it to cook the other side. When you serve them just open the pouch and put some on plates for the family. Then leave the extras for when they ask for more they will then stay hot. Enjoy!

**NOTE** You will need a little longer then 12″ of foil length wise for your pouches. Then just cut them in half to make the pouches for the grill.
