How To Make Kids Soap Crayons #Soap

The kids will have a blast with these soap crayons! They are easy to make and hours of fun! The boys and I will be making some this weekend as they just ran out so time to make more. It only takes us about a half hour to make a bunch of them then store them for their bath time fun. Be sure to use your coupons for your local craft stores to make them more frugal.

* 1 Bag of Clear glycerin soap base cut into cubes
* 3 or more soap color dyes (or food color dyes)
* Glass measuring cup for melting soap
* Spoons for mixing colors and fragrances
* Ice cube trays or round crayon molds
* Paper Plates
You can add soap Essential oils in your favorite scents if you would like to as well. It just adds a fragrance to the crayons like Apple, Vanilla, or other scents.

I put in 3-4 of the blocks of Soap and melt them in the microwave for about 5 minutes or till they are melted adding a minute at a time so that it won’t make a mess in the microwave. I put the Measuring cup on top of several Paper Plates to make mess clean up much easier!

I then remove the measuring cup and add 1-2 drops of coloring to it and mix it up. Then pour it into the molds. Be sure that children do not touch the molds as they are hot! The soap will also stick to their fingers till it dries so I have my son’s watch this stage.

When the soap sets it will be clear and you can just pop them out of the molds and they are ready to use. Then I put them in our bathroom in plastic bags with all same colors in the same bags. So that when one runs low I can easily grab them a new one. I have them located right next to the shower in our storage bath container so that I do not have to walk away from them. My son’s LOVE these! They will play till they turn into little prunes! lol
