It will be time to start getting ready for back to school very shortly. I always like to be ahead of the game and start a month early so that we can relax and enjoy the last of summer. There are some easy ways to be ready for back to school with these easy tips and it will make going back to school so much easier on the whole family. I actually use these tips all year round as it just makes my life a little easier. If you work you can use these tips as well and it will make life easier for the whole family.
Tip #1 Getting up in the mornings can sometimes be a chore when back to school starts. No one wants the fun to end of summer vacations, family fun, and everything that evolves around summer. I can’t blame anyone who doesn’t want it to end because I’m in the same boat. I have found that if I start the children going to bed at the school bedtime two weeks before school starts it’s not as hard to get them in the routine and it doesn’t make for crabby mornings.
Tip #2 Morning breakfasts can get everyone off to the right foot. However, waking up late or running behind because of the children hates the outfit you picked out can hurt your schedule. I make breakfasts as easy and healthy as I can. I make several types of Freezer Breakfast meals. They can be microwaved in minutes and on the table, the family will be thrilled and it will take less effort on your part but you will know they are eating healthy meals.
Tip 3: Use a organizer in the closet for the children and on Sunday or during the weekend have them choose their clothing for the whole week. Place the clothing in the correct days that they would like to wear them. Also add in socks, underwear and hair bows or anything else they will need. If they are all together it will make getting ready in the mornings easier. If they do not have to look for the items that they need they can be ready in 10 minutes. If they have to decide on what to wear, where their hair bows are and so on, your losing valuable time and getting frustrated.
Tip 4: Have a place that is set up for shoes, backpacks, hats, gloves and anything else that the children will need. two hours before bedtime make sure that everything is in it’s place. If it is not then you will have plenty of time to find what is needed and have it ready for the morning. The more organized you are the easier the mornings will be. The children will learn that it’s easier to put them in their place to begin with so they do not have to lose playtime to find them.
Tip 5: Make freezer lunches for the family. We love to make frozen peanut butter and jelly sandwiches that are just like the Smuckers uncrustables. They unfreeze by the time it’s lunch and are perfect. We also have salad days and I make the salads up the night before and place them in the fridge. There are so many great ways to make lunches up ahead of time and get lunches made in minutes so your in and out of the kitchen. You can make lunches while your waiting for the freezer breakfast meals to be done. I like to put them together while I’m getting my quiet moments in the morning before I wake the kids up for school.
Tip 6: I like to have an important message board for school papers. This keeps everything important in my view till I can write it on the calendar. I keep it organized by dates that they are happening. The important message board is just a cork board that I have and I line up all of the important events on. Do not just pin them on it in any old order or you will miss events. It’s better to keep everything well organized for the family so you can stay on top of it. I do this right when the kids come home and then we start homework.
These are just so easy tips for making back to school so much easier if you follow them. I will be posting more tips before school starts back up again. So be sure to keep an eye out for more great tips to make the school year so much better.
